Travel Tips
Trip Planning.
With such diversity in travel these days there is a great opportunity to try something a little out of the ordinary. I recall a fantastic self drive tour I did up the coast of South Africa with my wife some years ago. With some forward planning on what we would like to see, do and try we were able to have a great adventure on a very reasonable budget. In South Africa, as well as many other areas, most of the hostels have private rooms which keeps the accommodation costs down. So when next planning a trip look at what is out there and do something different. Depending on your destination there could be tour options on horses, camels, bicycles, motorcycles, mopeds and the list goes on.
Carry On Luggage.
There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding carryon luggage with today’s travellers. Here in Australia our domestic carryon is smaller than in other parts of the world and smaller than many of the international carriers. However this is where it is vital to check with your airline prior to travelling because even though the international carryon dimensions are bigger the weight allowance is often the same as domestic (7kg). As such it is often safer to simply travel with the domestic carryon and not be tempted to overpack.
Choosing the Right Luggage
Travellers sometimes have preconceived ideas on the type of luggage they need because it is considered by popular consensus to be the correct style and so on. When some actual planning is done – we can often discover better more comfortable choices for travellers.
For example: The Backpacker
The best traveller to demonstrate my point is the backpacker. As the very name suggests people who are off to go backpacking will invariably come shopping for a backpack, however how many really stop to consider where they are travelling, the type of transport and the facilities available when they get there. For many backpackers travelling Europe involves public transport, rental vehicles and hostels. Trolley duffel bags or at least a trolley backpack would often be far more practical for this type of travel. I know I would have loved some wheels on my bag when I did my European tour….
If you are going to hike up Machu Picchu then that is quite different and we have a great range of backpacks for you to look at.
